Daniel Mathers

B.Pharm B.Bus(Accy) CA - Client Manager

Daniel-MathersDaniel is a Chartered Accountant and has been working at Cabrera Partners for over three years.  He completed his Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) at QUT in 2006 and was admitted as member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2009.  He was awarded a merit certificate in the Taxation and Ethics and Business Application modules of the Chartered Accountants program.

Prior to working as an accountant, Daniel owned and operated two community pharmacies in Brisbane.  He is still a registered pharmacist and regularly attends conferences to keep up to date with the profession.  Coupled with his hands-on business experience, Daniel is in a unique position to provide accounting and taxation advice to small business owners, especially those in the pharmacy and healthcare sectors.  He also has a keen interest in tax planning, business structuring and Superannuation.

Daniel has a keen interest in wine and movies.  You will frequently find Daniel at the Portside Complex at Hamilton or at the Barracks on Petrie Terrace.  He also enjoys travelling, especially to his favourite wine regions of Australia, the Barossa and Clare Valleys.

 

Karen Smith

BBus(Acct) - Senior Accountant

Karen-SmithKaren completed her Bachelor of Business (accounting) in late 2007 and is now currently studying towards her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualifications.

While Karen has only been with Cabrera Partners for just over 6 months she has settled in quickly and is enjoying dealing with the wonderful clients and client base she is now gathering.

Karen thoroughly enjoys her job and enjoys working within all the accounting, tax and Superannuation areas and hopes to make a difference with her knowledge.

Though Karen completed her degree later in life she has been able to take up the opportunity to travel Australia with her husband by 4WD and caravan, an experience she feels everyone should try and have at some stage in their precious life.

Karen also enjoys keeping healthy by attending, sometimes, very tough, boot camp sessions with fellow workmates, she also likes to walk, jog, read and spend time with her beloved birds, Kamakazi, Buster and Beethoven.

 

 

Angel Cabrera

Senior Accountant

Angel-CabreraAngel is our most experienced accountant and has been with us for 20 years. 

Angel has developed a good relationship with a wide variety of clients and enjoys the challenges presented in an ever changing industry.

Angel lists his greatest passion as his children and likes all forms of sport, fishing, watching movies and going to the beach.

 

Jo Whishaw

Accountant

Jo-WhishawJo joined our practice in early 2008 as an Assistant Accountant, having been a client of the firm since 2003.  

Running a small business lead Jo to various book-keeping courses culminating in a Diploma of accounting which Jo successfully completed last year.

Prior to running her small business, Jo had fourteen years legal experience, with the last six years working as a paralegal.

Jo and her husband Ian have lived at Morayfield for 16 years and have two children, Dean and Jaimie.

 

 

Sean Saul

Accountant

Sean-SaulSean has taken a varied and winding path before arriving at Cabrera Partners. He has at various stages held positions in sales, customer service and distribution, as well as being a small business operator.

Having recently graduated with an Advanced Diploma in accounting, Sean attained a position with Cabrera Partners as a Graduate Accountant in August 2008. Sean believes education is a lifelong pursuit, and aims to extend his knowledge on accounting, Taxation, Superannuation and Business Advisory matters through his association with Cabrera Partners and continuing his professional education.

A proud born and bred Brisbanite and Queenslander, Sean loves to play and watch all types of sport and is passionate about the Lions, Broncos and any Queensland or Australian sporting teams.

Sean is a committed family man who is devoted to his wife and three boys.

 

Angela Thompson

Undergraduate Accountant

Angela-ThompsonAngela discovered her passion for accounting while studying Business Principles in Year 9.  Angela then went on and undertook a traineeship in Business Administration.  After a two year break from studying, Angela decided to take another step by undertaking studies at university.  Angela is now currently in her second year of accounting at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  While carrying out her study, Angela decided to gain practical experience in the accounting industry, hence currently working at Cabrera Partners.

Angela enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family and sweating out at boot camp as a newly formed member.
